Default No more GX...

Well, it finally happened even after my avionics shop and I were assured
BEFORE I put the UPS stack in.

The GX series is no more. They published some letter that I can't find
online to say no more.

Sad. Still, parts and service should be around for ten years.....

Excellent idea. Everyone can afford a 430 or a 530 these days.

Ugh. My worst fears realized. OK, I guess I can thing of worse things,
but this does suck.

I'd love to cling to the fantasy that this is just an internet rumor, but
how about source for confirmation? I just did a quick look at Garmin's
website, AvWeb, AOPA and EAA and there's no mention of it yet....

looks like they took their lessons from Bill Gates.. get newer versions out
there.. and then stop supporting the old version... got to get them
(customer) into buying upgrades.. or you'll only see the customer one time..
you need to get them to keep coming back.. keeps the cash flow up.

You *are* a young pup if you think Gates invented that.

It may come as a bit of a shock to you, I know, but marketing actually
existed before Bill Gates.

Well, just before the takeover news I sent a letter to UPSAT telling them
what I thought (as nicely as I could) of their customer service policies.
Never even got a form letter back.

I guess they already knew that their jobs were gone and they didn't care
(which was part of the problem to begin with).

I am not suprised. That equipment was pretty long in the tooth, going back
to the pre-UPS (Apollo) days.

That's a ridiculous statement. I'll keep my GX-60, thank you. As long
as it keeps working, there's no reason to replace it. If the 430 fit
in a [more or less] standard 2 inch height space, then it might be a
possibility for more people. I'm not re-arranging my panel, just so I can
brag to my friends that I have a 430.

Of course it is a ridiculous statement - I was being sarcastic. I have a
GX-60 too.

I first heard it when I was picking up my airplane from the avionics shop
last week, don't think it's a rumor. It's still not on Garmins site though.
