Well, I got a new idea as of Saturday morning. We had a nice morning trip
up to Sedona for breakfast. Life is good: cold, calm air, plane's running good, good company at the restaurant. Then we fire up to come home, and all of a sudden, the Attitude Indicator doesn't know which way is up anymore! About 10 minutes after takeoff it had figured it out, but this is not good. So, it's time for a new gyro. Hey Mike -- I just went through this, with both the DG and the AI. Give the Gyro House a call -- they've been great to work with. See 'em at http://www.gyrohouse.com/ . -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" "Mike Adams" wrote in message news:eVsDb.18237$m83.14801@fed1read01... Mike What are you hoping to find in YOUR stocking on Christmas morn? |

The bigger the boat the less likely it is to come with. There are too many options.
Also, power boaters think a GPS 'is' a knot meter but (s)he may be a sailor. Mike Z "Jay Honeck" wrote in message news:cnvDb.362531$Dw6.1195387@attbi_s02... What the heck is a "knot meter"? A speedometer? (Or, more correctly, a "water-speed indicator"?) Don't boats come with those things standard? I know it's hard to believe, but unlike airplanes, speed isn't a critical parameter on a boat. :-) Russell Kent |

Ohhh gawd, here I go again doing the broken record thing... jeez, why is it
always me that has to be the bad guy... RANT ON When your life depends on an instrument you do NOT overhaul/repair it, you replace it with brand new... Ask Senator Wellstone how much he saved when his son had the gyro system "repaired" instead of replacing with brand new... rant off Secondary flight instruments, clocks, tachometers, temp gauges, etc., are not important... Take a hammer to em for all I care... But attitude gyros, asi, altimeter, compass, are your life... Denny " Hey Mike -- I just went through this, with both the DG and the AI. I've already asked for it and Santa said yes, but we both agreed that we
won't take a loan or go into debt to get it. So far we're in the price range of a nice C170. -- Jim Burns III Remove "nospam" to reply "Jay Honeck" wrote in message news:GE9Db.554575$Fm2.523350@attbi_s04... Ho, ho, ho....! Me, I'm asking Santa for a new, solid-state transponder -- which is about as dull as socks & underwear, but the third digit on mine keeps going wacky once in while. I *hate* it when ATC thinks I've set my squawk code wrong... Don't boats come with those things standard? -- Boat is a 1988 Catalina 36 sail boat in Lake Erie. Yes, a knotmeter measures speed in knots thur the water. And yes, they usually have one but after 15 years, the original went TU. Until I bought the airplane a few years ago, I thought that a boat was expensive to own.G Nice thing re boats is that you can do the work on them if you want and don't need an A&E to sign it off.
