I'm not volunteering (don't have my IR anyways), but you may want to wait
for another weekend. Here in SF we are bracing for a fairly decent winter storm (nothing big deal, but it will be wet and the freezing levels are gonna be low - I wouldn't want to imagine what the levels will be like in Oregon ((shiver))). -- -- Good Flights! 20hrs of Actual IR? or 20hrs of actual flying time..
You know how hard it is to get "actual IR" in the desert southwest without getting into the freezing levels.. Cost is $xxx (negotiable/day), plus actual cost of return airfare and other expenses, can add up if forced overnight 1/2 way enroute by approaching winter storm. Given that it will probably take about 10 hours round trip (home to home), that's about $15/hr. No wonder it's so hard to make a living in aviation... |

I got my IR. But I wouldn't try myself. I'm hoping I can fly with
someone with experience in real world weather. You're right, I was told, if there's the word "icing" you stay on the ground. So it looks like this weekend might not happen. I think the price is not too far off. If I was capable and without an
airplane, I might even fly for free. It's fun isn't it. In any case, I have already found someone. Thanks a lot for people who responded either here or PM. Ya, it does not look like this weekend is feasible though. I don't think any reasonable people want to try hard IFR in an unfamiliar airplane. By the way, it's a 182P. I was thinking the same thing, but he said 20 hours of actual in the past
year. I would think its pretty hard to get 20 hours of actualy in a year since the only time you can log actual is when you are actually in actual ![]() BTIZ btw if you dont have your own plane and need to stay current your more then welcome to fly with me, my plane is in Hortons right now getting new avionics, he told me today it will be done on monday or tuesday. Thursday we are flying to wichita kansas then back to vegas on sunday. here is my baby http://216.158.136.80/newplane/index.html Jeff BTIZ wrote: 20hrs of Actual IR? or 20hrs of actual flying time.. either the "performance specs" or "My Plane Pictures" links on that page??? "Jeff" wrote in message ... here is my baby http://216.158.136.80/newplane/index.html Jeff |
