I am going to be flying to Moses Lake, WA in a couple of weeks. Anyone
familiar with Grant County? According to the AF/D, it is busy with military traffic. Just curious.... Thanks. Fred |

Ahhh......that is good to hear. Does ATC put you on the big runway most of
the time, or do us little guys get to use 18/36? Fred "NW_PILOT" wrote in message ... "Fred Choate" wrote in message ... I am going to be flying to Moses Lake, WA in a couple of weeks. Ahhh......that is good to hear. Does ATC put you on the big runway most
of the time, or do us little guys get to use 18/36? The times I've flown in there, I've always been routed to 4/22, which is 10,000x100. Twice I've seen Boeing 747 doing touch and go's on 14/32, the big one at 13,500x300. One night the ATIS had a warning about miltary activity running lights out in the pattern. It's a nice airport and you'll have fun. If you have some spare time, fly up to Grand Coulee Dam, a little to the north. Enjoy! |

Thanks, I will try to do that. I am picking up my 9 year old daughter, so
she would get a kick out of flying up over the dam. Thanks for the info Folks...... Fred "Charles Oppermann" wrote in message ... Ahhh......that is good to hear. Check out the AF/D... One of the runways there is used as a C-17 Assault
Landing Strip. It's very interesting to see the military ops, so I'm told. Chris Fred Choate wrote: Thanks, I will try to do that. I think you still have Yakima in your brain. How busy Grant Co. is depends on the day of the week. Even the tower is closed some days. Fidel |

... I am going to be flying to Moses Lake, WA in a couple of weeks. Anyone familiar with Grant County? According to the AF/D, it is busy with military traffic. Just curious.... Busy? Hardly. Grant County Int'l is a tremendous airport out in the middle of nowhere (former airforce base and a designated space shuttle alternate landing site!). Yes, there's some military activity sometimes, and yes, some of the airlines use it for training (gotta use all that pavement for something), but to describe the place as "busy" is laughable. Most of the times I've been there I felt like the guys in the tower were angry at me for interrupting their naps or poker game. I've probably been in there a dozen times, maybe more, and only recall seeing another airplane moving once or twice. It's one of the sleepiest airports with endless pavement that you're likley to ever visit. No problemo. For an FBO while you're there, I recommend Air America. They'll treat you nice. Thanks for the heads up. I didn't figure it to be too bad. I have driven
through there a million times and only recall seeing a handful of military aircraft myself, but I wasn't really paying that close attention. I will check out Air America while I am there......thanks again for the info everyone. Fred "David Herman" wrote in message news:1120085866.899520@yasure... "Fred Choate" wrote in message ...
