Default More OSH 2005 pix

Jack & Steve Allison flew to OSH all the way from California in Jack's
beautiful Piper Arrow. They were able to join us for both the
"Pre-Oshkosh Fly-In Pool Party" (held at the inn) and for the
"Rec.Aviation Party" (held at our campsite in OSH).

Steve has forwarded his Airventure photos to me, and (thanks to Jav
Henderson's almost unlimited server space and generosity) I present
them here for your viewing pleasure.

See: http://www.alexisparkinn.com/steve_allison's_pix.htm

I especially like this panoramic shot of the North 40:
http://www.alexisparkinn.com/OSH2005...ngPanorama.jpg
, as it truly "captures" the feeling you get in the aircraft camping
area.

Thanks Steve, for sharing those great pix!

How kind of you to note that I was "pondering a point" instead of
feeding my face. :-))

Cool.... suggested title - "As Far as the Eye Can See"

My first thought for a title after stitching the photos together was "So
many airplanes, so little time"

Or..."We parked in row five hundred and what???? Ah, no matter, I'll
just wander around drooling over airplanes until I find mine"

29.4 hours round trip, averaged 7.3 gph, scooted across the ground
anywhere from just under 120 kts to 140+ kts, depending on the wind. It
was a very fun trip.

Not to mention trying to hold a conversation with Jay *before* he's had
coffee. Kids, don't try this at home! :-) Actually, Jay and Mary
impressed me by helping push us out of our parking spot before they'd
had their first cups of coffee.

Yes, way cool and one of those "Hey, why didn't I think of that?" things.

Mostly for Blanche...no, this was *not* what IOW looked like when we
arrived. Picture seeing the airport about four miles farther away,
really hazy, and that was the arrival. Well, then again, I really don't
need to tell you about that eh? I think we had 5-6 mile visibility when
we arrived. The nice picture of our wingtip and IOW is really Sunday
morning.

Sorry Jay, didn't want Blanche to think she was the only one to deal
with that wonderful "Visiblity 9" as reported by your AWOS. :-)

Ah, that makes sense. Without any kind of logical labels (Steve called all
the pix "OSH2005001" thru "OSH2005188," or something like that) I had a bear
of a time putting them in true chronological order!

Man, it was a great week. It's funny, it was one of those weeks that you
knew were so great that you started feeling nostalgic for it *before* it was
over...

Err....they were in chronological order. The naming is "OSH 2005 nnn"
where nnn is the sequence number from the camera. But now that I think
about it, seems like the spaces were removed when burning them to the CD
(for reasons known only to Microsoft or the company that wrote the CD
burning software). I can see how that would be less than self explanatory.

Hey, at least I made sure the CD could be read before mailing it! :-)

Ah, so it 'twas I who shuffled them after all! I had to re-size them all
down to 640 x 480, and give them names that would make sense to me, and
somewhere during that process, I kinda lost track of the order of things.

I think I got them pretty close, though, the pic of IOW notwithstanding...

Yeah, I've seen that happen. In fact, a fella off this newsgroup sent me a
DVD full of really cool video stuff -- all of which turned out to be
unreadable on ANY of my five DVD players. It's easy to do.

Again, thanks for sending the pix -- they were great!
