....and an audio panel that you can plug it in to. Flew VNY-LAS on
Thursday with a nano plugged in to the auxiliary audio input in my Cirrus. Now my flight has a sound track! Clear skies, smooth air, a 45 knot tailwind (!), an autopilot, and Yanni Live at the Acropolis. Now that's my idea of a good time! I must have gone into karma deficit on the way out though because yesterday a front rolled through, and the 45 knot tail wind turned into a 50 know headwind with icing and occasional severe turbulence. I probably could have made it, but I decided not to find out. There are worse places to be stuck than Vegas. First time I've ever been grounded by weather away from home. Best decision I've ever made. Today was CAVU. Got up at 5:00 (adrenaline is a wonderful thing) and took off just as the sun was coming up. Only a 20 knot headwind, and just a little chop coming out of McCarran (which might have just been wake turbulence from the C130 I was following!) Heard a lot of air chatter about how great today was compared to yesterday. I made it back early enough that the guy who had the plane checked out this morning didn't have to delay his flight. Anyway, if your panel has an audio input and you've been thinking about bring along some tunes, I highly recommend it. Staying on the ground if you're unsure about the weather seems like a pretty good idea in retrospect as well. rg |

![]() Thanks for the report. I'll bet the visibility was 100 miles this morning. Nano doesn't have a disk which is even better. The XM Satellite Radio feed from my Garmin 396 is the best but it costs. My avionics guy suggested an aux input jack when he installed the Garmin panel years ago. Great suggestion on his part. |

I had an Ipod shuffle and it didn't work. I stole my kids ipod (was more
songs) and it worked great. It is nice to fly that way. "Maule Driver" wrote in message m... Ron Garret wrote: ...and an audio panel that you can plug it in to. Sounds about right. :-) Staying on the ground if you're unsure about the weather seems like a pretty good idea in retrospect as well. While you could have launched, and had a look, a decision that errs on the side of prudence is ever preferable to one that relies on chance. Yeah, I thought about that too. I finally decided that I could deal with a fifty knot headwind. I could deal with severe turbulence. I could deal with clouds. I could deal with mountains. I could deal with ice. But I couldn't deal with all those things at once. Best case scenario I'd get home frazzled. Worst case, well, let's not go there. By staying on the ground I got to have a fun flight home instead of a grueling one. That counts as a net win in my book. rg |
