User fees will be charged and raised to pay the graft. Was that supposed to make sense? In a convoluted way. Daley probably wants to get rid of Midway, but he cannot do it the same way he did with Meigs. So he privatizes it increase the fees users pay to access it. The lessee collects the user fees. The lessee then pays a portion of the user fee to the Daley Show. Eventually, the fees become excessive and users leave. The Daley Show then announces that Midway is no longer viable and shuts it down. This places even more of a burden on O'Hare. The Illinois congress critters then force a funding initiative for a new Chicago airport (which will make the $100 billion spent on Denver look like a bargin) through the legislature. This will guarantee thousands of high paying construction jobs and income taxes to Illinois for the next 10-20 years. |

Well, the logical place would be just offshore out in Lake Michigan. Easy access to downtown, plenty of room to expand... Oh, wait... -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |

Dave, you need to read the newspapers! The proposed location is down by Peotone VOR, about 30-40 miles south of Chicago. It would be run by Chicago. That's why the proposal was dropped 3-4 years ago. The local communities weren't going to allow Chicago control over their land. There would be plenty of graft and corruption to go around, so a deal could yet be crafted. |

Yes I read newspapers and get information from numerous other news sources as well. Daley would have absolutely no control over the proposed third airport in Peotone. Peotone is not Chicago. That is why he is dead set against it or any other options that do not involve ORD such as expanding Gary or Rockford. He managed to get the huge ORD expansion approved so he could maintain control. I don't know where you get your information but you need to consider other sources. |
