Default A Q from an Indian student

An acquaintance's son (in India presently) asked me recently whether
it'd be possible for him to go to the US and get a CP license and 737
rating in one go?

I'm sure you guys would know the info

I forgot to ask whether the bloke already had the various licenses
required prior to being eligible for a CPL, but let's assume for now
that he does.

Thanks in advance,

Ramapriya

Yes, it is possible after very thorough background checks.
If he has any types of history that would even indicate some
problem, he will not be allowed entry. The background
checks are made by Homeland Security and the TSA.

Suggest that a school, such as Flight Safety, which offers
training for the CPL and also for the 737 type rating. The
student will probably have to supply a full set of
photographs and fingerprints and some proof of a job offer
in the 737. http://www.flightsafety.com/

Thanks a lot for the info which I've passed on to my friend, who has
nothing in his background or history that can be even remotely
problematic. That of course won't inhibit the Dud from alerting the FBI
ere dawn tomorrow.

Thanks again,

Ramapriya

The world is different since 9/11. Many good people have to
jump through security checks to get training. It should
work OK, just be sure to allow time and money for the
procedures.

To even ask Qs here on RAP, as I discovered (you wouldn't know). The
risible prat wrote privately to inform me that he was "alerting the
FBI" about me. 18 months since then, my life has changed not a whit,
and hopefully the FBI knows all that they needed to.

As a lawyer friend of mine says, "Just because you're
paranoid, it doesn't mean they aren't after you."

Good luck.

After the Citation, the 737 is probably the most popular type rating
around. I've seen ads from quite a few companies that offer the
training in Flight Magazine. If you Googles "737 type rating" you'd
probably find all of them.
