Hot hot hot up here in Alberta.
Lots of fires, lots of planes in the air. As the subject says.... 3 bell 206 helicopters have crashed within the past few days, and 2 pilots have been killed. Speculation has been made that high temps on the ground have made take off and flying difficult..... and perhaps been a factor in at least one of the accidents. I've never drank so much ice tea and ice water as I have these past few record breaking days... about 33 Celsius, which for us is hot weather. Taday it broke with overcast skies, so hopefully it will rain a bit and give the boots on the ground and pilots in the air a bit of a break. Anybody here ever flown with a bambi bucket. We are all eyes - so tell us a story. |

That's bad news for 206's. Do you know why it was just them crashing? Were they all flying the same missions? -- boB Wing 70 U.S. Army Aviation (retired) Central Texas - 5NM West of Gray Army Airfield (KGRK) |

One of the local media pointed that out as if there had to be a connection, but the government inspector pointed out that considering the 206 is so popular with so many flying that it is nothing more than a coincedence. |

I've had my 206 at max gross in temps over 100F quite a few times. You gotta
keep your eyes on the N1 and TOT gauges, but the machine performs just fine. I even had it at 11,000MSL with an OAT over 80F in the mountains out west once. Nothing weird at all except the control was a little squishy. Bart "Shiver" wrote in message ... boB wrote: That's bad news for 206's. Do you know why it was just them crashing? It's not like those machines are doing anything they havn't done a thousand times before under the same conditions. Either hauling firefighters, equipment, or water. But you know what the media is like. A bit of a frenzy I presume with three machines down in three days. |
