I used a Monroy traffic detector in my Ventus several years ago but was
disappointed with its performance. Can anyone comment on performance of the Proximity Alert R5 unit? I will be flying in the Orlando area again this winter and have some concern about the high volume of power traffic in that area. Ted |

Ted There was a thread a few weeks ago started by John Carlysle with a good analyis of products. A search on his name should turn it up. Chip F |

Ted Ted, I've been using a R-5 for the past several years with good results. The main advantage of this unit is that it displays threat aircraft squawk code, so you can tell if they are talking to ATC (and thus have probably been told about you) or not. bumper |

I'll let you try my ZAON device. It works exactly as advertised.

Tom is it the ZAON mrx for $499 something?
Is it working well for you? I understand that it can not tell you which direction the traffic is coming from, but I like the price and portability, since it can be used while flying airplanes as well. (I can not afford the XRX, or can not power it in a glider) What do you think? Richard ASW19 Phoenix, AZ |

Yes, this is it. You can see details on our web site -www.eglider.org.
It simply alerts you when another transponder-equipped aircraft is within 5 miles of your location; how high above or below you. It sees these aircraft before you can see them, and ignores non-threats. Simple, and it really works. "jeplane" wrote in message ups.com... Tom is it the ZAON mrx for $499 something?
