Garmin Aviation Database Updater - won't install/run

Somewhat OT but somebody on here has dealt with this software. Trying to
update the obstruction database for garmin 296. Follow all the directions,
download the file, run it, get message 'error 0 running command
avdwebupdater.exe....'

Any ideas? Garmin has my $35 for the stupid key, how do I make this
third-rate software run?

I am having update problems with my Lowrance unit. Check the Garmin
website for a FAQ on this topic or call them if no one offers
suggestions.

Make sure you loaded the driver. It works really well. The flight log
software garmin has is nice also.

I had problems with it, too.

Don't remember which one worked, but I either ran it directly from the
download site, or I downloaded the .exe file to the desktop first and ran it
from there. One way works, one doesn't.
