To the aviation community,
I recently graduated from San Jose States aviation program with a degree in Flight Operations. After 5 years of pain and suffering I have finally graduated and come to one conclusion, the San Jose State Aviation program needs to be rebuilt. All SJSU aviation Students have become helpless, without control toward the future of our own program. Our Airframe and Power-plant degree has been totally cancelled. The current faculty who teach at this once-great place have heart, yet don't have the qualifications to teach. My final project consisted of demonstrating to the class how to track a VOR and use DME. This class among many others was taught by a part-time non-aviation instructor. The department now resides at the San Jose International Airport (SJC), and they plan to move us to main campus. The San Jose State aviation program at this time has a lease on SJC airport property until 2010. The CSU system has no regard for this department which started more than 50 years ago at SJC. While this is the only California state Aviation program, we still see ourselves diminishing in number. We, the students, have pulled together, and we are turning the tides to rebuild our program. A lawyer has been brought into the picture, our case is strong. Together we will bring back a department which once thrived. I would like to request just a little help from all of you. Please visit our website (which is under construction, visit often) http://www.SaveSJSUAviation.com/ IF you would like more info please don't hesitate to write me an email. |
