The pilot pictured is Robert J. Quint. He was assigned to the 9th photo-recon squadron (http://www.9thprs.org/) and flew with the 9th (Juliang/Kweilin) and 21st (Kunming) photo-recon squadron in China during 1943 and 1944. He volunteered for an additional tour after his 50 missions. He lost 2 P-38s (F5s). One caught fire on take-off, and he bailed out of the second right after he re-upped (lost oil pressure in both engines). He also appears in a very short clip (3 seconds) in the cockpit of a F5 in the History Channel episode "Secret Japanese Airplanes of WWII".
