Anybody know about the bombing of Marauders? Wasit accurate?
Prof. Solly Zuckerman, doing operational research for the RAF during WW2, came to the conclusion that the most precise bombing in the ETO in 1944 was being done by a specific Marauder Group. Don't know which one, I'm afraid |

![]() Anybody know about the bombing of Marauders? Wasit accurate? It was accurate by WWII terms, which wasn't terribly precise. A lot depended on what altitude they bombed from. The original notion was that light and medium bombers attacked from low level, and that was often done in the Pacific theater. Against the German flak that proved a very costly notion, so they were moved up as high as they could go, which was about 12,000 feet. At that height accuracy suffered. I'm sure that Art Kramer will have more detailed information for you. all the best -- Dan Ford email: www.danford.net/letters.htm#9 see the Warbird's Forum at www.warbirdforum.com and the Piper Cub Forum at www.pipercubforum.com |
