The airplane and I were not co-located, making measuring problematical. I was guessing 1/8th inch 7x19, but wanted to order some cable ASAP, so I thought I'd ask my friends and neighbors for confirmation. Hope you don't mind. Best to all, Cindy B Thanks Cindy, It was a good race with good tasking, like Bishop-Basalt and Mammouth- Mina, even called Independance with a circle one day. On the last day it was blowing like stink, 30 knots at 10K. The bat-wing just couldn't penetrate as fast as the heavy Ventus-2 CM, so my speed wasn't enough to hold on to first place. Got me fored up and I'm still hoping to get into Parowan, may even try to make it down to Hobbs. Best regards, JJ |

Just be aware that the "new" rudder pedals for the AD have a plastic sleeve
that is slightly smaller in diameter than the old one, so the cable may not slide through it easily when adjusting the pedals, and may pull the sleeve out of the "S" tubing. How hard do you have to stomp on the pedals to crack them, anyway? I suspect I
could beat the old pedals with a hammer for a few hours with no ill effect. In an accident, like a high speed ground-loop, the pilot may end up more or less standing on the rudder pedals. I have seen cracked rudder pedals where there was no damage to the nose of the glider.......................I suspect this was the issue that lead to this AD. JJ |

In our case, there was a small crack starting on one of the rudder pedals at
the weld. The area actually looked slightly compressed as though it had been squeezed in a vise. Still, it would have taken a mighty heavy foot to actually break it. I suspect a vertical nose down landing, ouch, would have accomplished that. I wish we could have just welded on a reinforcing plate, like they did on the new pedals, to solve the problem because the new pedals are narrower and much more uncomfortable to use.
