Alby tried to leave Jean today but had difficulties gettin above 8000 ft to
leave the valley. At the end of the day Mark took Alby to Mt Charleston for a nice tour there. Tomorrow another pilot will try to get Alby to Coyote Springs. Jay |

BT,
Can you tell us who the Alby Pilot is today? I'm looking at the SPOT page and he's an hour or so from Coyote Run, assuming he's anywhere near cloudbase (which is HIGH out there today). The weather up that way is pretty good so he should make it. CH (Cliff Hilty) is standing by. ~ted/2NO |

The SPOT page is showing Shad about 30 miles from his destination at
5:50pm. The field elevation is 5k so if he's 10k or higher he should be in good shape. |

Shad has landed safely with Alby at Coyote Run, however he managed to
land on the pipeline clearing on the east side of the gliderport, on the wrong side of the fence, and faces a short but challenging "retrieve". CH reports his ground crew in Kingman. Regardless, nice flight, Shad! Flying across the Colorado River valley is not an easy thing to do, even on good days. It is almost always a big blue sinkhole where the top of lift never exceeds 6k. (Today's 2PM NAM shows the -3 at 5k -- ouch.) So, that was a nice accomplishment. Looking forward to the pilot's report! 2NO |

![]() Regardless, nice flight, Shad! Looking forward to the pilot's report! 2NO Half the fun in X-C is telling the stories afterward. Especially to an appreciative audience. The stories I had forwarded to Sergio are now up the Alby page from the prior weekend. Great photos to go with the literature. And yes, I look forward to hearing Shad's news of 'fording the Great River'. Great job by LVVSA, passing Alby along so quickly! Tuno -- you have some storytelling to live up to in the next legs!
