Planning a little trip around Africa -would like to visit gliding
clubs/operations on the way. Apart from the well known clubs in South Africa and operations in Namibia, where else does gliding take place on the continent? -I have heard of operations in Zimbabwe, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, Kenya in the past- are they still in existence -what about other countries- any gliding in west Africa? If anyone has information on civil/military gliding operations it would be most welcome. |

Browsing through the OLC, there seems to be some activity (and long
flights!) out of Ouarzazate, Morocco: http://www.onlinecontest.org/olc-2.0...1&sc=&sp=2010´ Cheers, Lars Peder DG-600, Denmark "Nick" wrote in message ... Only for us. There's nothing that looks like "operations", just a long runway hosting a very low-traffic international airport. You are on you own, you show your passport (at customs) and flight plan each day, and enjoy endless runs over the Atlas. At 1400m amsl, and 40°C, my former DG400 took 2,5 km to get into the air. Turn right into the first thermal at less 100m agl. (An earlier take-off, before thermal activity starts in the valley floor, followed by long-ish motoring up to the first ridges, is a bit more comfortable). Aldo Cernezzi dg600M, too underpowerd to fly there, I'm afraid. |
