I flew at Marfa this spring and had a couple 8-10 knot thermals. It was great until I hit the 8-10 knot sink. Bravest I got all week was to get 12 miles from the airport. If I could've gotten to 15,000 any of the days I was willing to consider making a run to Alpine and trying for Gold Distance over the highway to San Angelo. I think I'd rather grind at 1 or 2 knots at 1000 AGL and actually go somewhere, at least until I get something a little higher performance so I can actually go somewhere when there is no where to land between airports. |
