They have missed the killer application for this technology -- glider
assistance. Consider an array of 10 cooridnated and radio thethered quadracopters deployed in an arc a mile or so ahead of you on cruise. As one copter discovers strong lift, the others converge to the area to map it against GPS space. You arrive to pull up into the sweet spot while the copters continue climbing in the lift as they work together to map the airspace above you. As the devices near the top of the strongest lift, you command them back on course while you take a couple more turns to give them an appropriate lead. There. Now we're on topic. |
