Unfortunately that link won't work for many because of the crudely implemented pay-wall (no I am not going to subscribe to your little newspaper to read one article...).
The top search result here will get you to the same article... http://www.google.com/search?q=spect...+fence+parowan (Personally I would have blown the damn pests up... they'll get the message.) Darryl |

Craig The many attempts to accommodate the protected beasts on the airfield in the grassy areas have failed, since they ended up digging up both the access road and runway. (A couple of years ago at Region 9 there, a prairie dog popped his head up in the middle of the runway ahead of me as I started my take-off run.) The damage to the runways and other infrastructure has led to the latest attempts to keep them out. We shall see! I'm afraid the Rodenator and other gas or explosive-based means are not permitted to be used on protected species. That would have been my choice too! Mike |

The inground portion is "six feed deep"... how long is a "feed"? If
you feed them, won't they stay? Since these are dogs, can't the county just put collars on them with electronic zappers as part of an "Invisible Fence" like I see in the pet stores? (Okay, okay... I get they idea that they're big rodents, They look somewhat like the Canadian "Ground Hog", although slimmer... the Canuck version probably needs the extra insulation). |

Back here in the East, we have ground hogs (Punxatawnee Phil) and keep
them away by dropping moth balls down their holes. Sometimes that does not work if the ground hog is determined so we take other measures. Tom |

There follows a 'crump' sound (just like in the old war coomics), and the little guys don't appear. It was advice from a farmer and it worked for me. |
