In article , Stealth Pilot says...

I'm a lurker, and it's pretty evident by the postings who's nuts.

Thank you kindly.
Chuck S

that's not what he said.

(I'm joking! I'm joking!!! )

I realize the Lurkers statement could have been taken 2 ways but I think he
meant that jaun was nuts .........I think :-)

chuck put the first fully stress evaluated ultralight on the american
market. no one can take that one from you mate.

That's true and I can "prove" that as well LOL!!! I guess that's why the design
has stood the test of time.

I remember the first Hawk that we sold to someone in Australia and he said he
could fly it out in the boonies as long as he didn't cross a paved road. Was that
true or was he pulling my leg?

I thank you for that.

Hey gang!

For filters to work, the JJJ must have a space between it and the other
words in the title. Three "J"s are sufficient! :^o

Jim (microsoftly challenged) in NC

I didn't know that, so it was my fault when I posted the first post.I have since
put a space between the JJJ's on the title.

I hate to eulogize Chuck at this point,
since he ain't dead yet... but he is a pioneer
and recognized giant in the field of ultra lights.

I'll not mention juan in the same sentence.

I'm proud to call Chuck a true friend
to me and most of aviation.

Gee thanks Unka Bob your making me blush :-)

P.S.
Anyone can one mistake, but THREE in a row?
I do wish he'd give up Chrysler products. g

Hmmm your not the first one to say that. I'm open for suggestions for my next
truck. But the Dodge rides so well, just like my old 50 Buick I used to
have, especially when the trans is not busted....

See ya

I'm known as a FORD guy, but have had hard
luck since '83, especially with a certain V-6
full size truck purchased new in 1997.

The ride was great, but the truck had poor power,
poor gas mileage, chasis problems and the interior
was falling apart in less than a year. LEMON.

At the other end of the scale, my Chevy friends
can't say enough good about the latest trucks
from the GM stable. Especially, when it comes
to power and gas mileage. Of course, they drive
a lot better today than my old GMC V-6 from
yesteryear.... and damn well better. That POS
had suspension, like well.., er, a 50's Buick. g

I still have that Buick from Hell via Steakbreath Stricker.
It's been dead a year, and now in the shop for the last
month in hopes of resurrection. It all started with a
SMALL cup of Muzzleloader in the gas tank since
I didn't have a can of HEAT handy. Where is nurse
Tommy Copper when you really need him?

See ya.

Well, Chuck - no one ever coughed up the C-notes for the little wager,
but if I had 'em, they'd be on the way to you in tomorrow's mail.

Game, set and match to Chuck Sluar.. Slaru... the guy with all the
trucks. The non-commercial trucks in his name, that is.

I have owned TWO F##kedOrRapedDaily's in my lifetime and the ONLY way I would
ever own another one would be if I was first divorced (a threat from my wife if
I even thought about another one) and brain dead. The last one spent 6 months
in the shop, went through 4 transmissions, 2 front ends, two airconditioning
systems, and some major engine problems...all in a span of 4 1/2 years and only
20K miles. And it was NEW when I bought it. When I finally tried to trade it
in, they gave me less than salvage value for it. ( AND I was glad to get
that!)

I think I see a pattern here. Maybe if you bought a truck with a real
engine instead of one of those V-6 things, you would have better luck.
I had an S-10 for a while with the GM V-6 and it was great, but then
again, the engine was appropriately sized for the smaller truck.

True story: My brother and I each drive late model Jeep Wranglers.
Mine is the straight 6 version which is known to make good power for a
rig of this size. His is the 4 cylinder version, which you would expect
to be more efficient, but he has never gotten any better mileage than I
do. The problem is that the Wrangler is heavy for its size, shaped like
a brick, and needs lots of power to reach and sustain highway speeds.
You have to run the 4 cylinder rig so hard just to keep up with traffic
that the two engines get around the same mileage in normal use. For
city driving, he still has a small edge but only a couple mpg. In
reality though, they could both use a V-8. 8^)

I think something similar may be at play with your V-6 trying to move a
full size truck. But then what do I know about new trucks? I'm still
driving the 3/4 ton Chevy pickup (350 V-8 powered) which my dad bought
new in 1973. It gets 10 mpg under ALL operating conditions. Never had
a problem with power though. 8^)
