Key tests for new jet set for April

WASHINGTON — The Air Force is ready to begin critical testing on its
F/A-22 Raptor fighter-bomber next month, a senior official told
lawmakers on Wednesday.

Marvin R. Sambur, assistant secretary of the Air Force for
procurement, gave a Senate subcommittee an upbeat report on the
Raptor’s development. His assessment challenged findings, By
congressional investigators who charged last week that the plane has
not shaken longstanding problems in its electronics systems.
