Default Val Air open?

Are tows still available at Val Air, including weekdays?
Their phone line is disconnected, Web site says it is closed but tows are available for private owners and I can still see OLC entries from there.
I am considering visiting there next week so any info will be appreciated.

Only open for a few of us. They are not giving rides any more, just trying to sell the place. Local pilots paid a fair chunk of $$ to cover the insurance for the gliderport and 1 tow plane + costs of maintaining (watering and mowing grass runway) + we have to pay for tows above and beyond that. Still better than not flying or having to drive hundreds of miles. So far we have been mostly flying weekend days, weather permitting, and very occasionally a week day here and there. Visiting pilots would need to pay $40 / day + tows, providing they have flown here before. Any others would need a checkout flight plus all that. For any further info and planned / hoped for days of flying, contact me via email directly and then we can chat about whatever questions you might have or I can get you in touch with someone else that can.

Val Air is still a grand place to fly from / stupendous area. Sure wish someone would / could come along and buy the place and keep it open / going.

Bob
