P-47M 42875 -- that's the number as it appears on the tail.

Above was a bird named in his honor right after the end of hostilities.

Per his book, Zemke had three P47D's coded UN-Z

Jan-Mar 44 42-75864

Mar-May 44 42-76471

May-Aug 44 42-26413

And:

w/ 479th FG

P-38J 43-28823 J2*Z

P-51D 44-14351 9B*Z

That S/N does not appear in Zemke's book, "Zemke's Wolfpack".

The three S/N's he gives for his various P-47D's (all coded UN*Z) a

42-75864

42-76471

42-26413

This book has ISBN: 0-671-72714-1
