Might anyone know of any components or complete water ballast parts for an ASW 17? I am aware that the bags are sometimes available from Herr Streifeneder, but the lead time is long and the costs are high.

Streifeneder is indeed your best bet for the bags. We use them in the HP-24 along with dump valves of our own design.

Bob, is there something about making bags that is more difficult than it "seems"? With your skill set and the demand, I bet you could have a nice business making bags for more than your new HP.
I'm tempted go try to make a set myself (without knowing any better.) Doug |
