That's just one side of the story, isn't it? What if the woman was his
ex-girlfriend who wanted to take her revenge on him in such an
extravagant way? KGB came up with even more absurd charges against
people based on tips from people who wanted to get the apartment of the
arrested ones!

Fair enough, but it's objectively provable that he lied on an application
for a security clearance. That's not exactly indicative of good judgment.
