I had a similar problem with my old GR1000.

This was due to (rechargable) internal battery failure
- which needed to be topped up regularly - every month
in practice.

The internal battery in a GR1000 is a Nickel-Cadmium type and should
last several months, however NiCD does have a relatively high self-
discharge rate. If you are only getting one month's life then it would
seem that the battery has reached the end of it's life (which as we all
know happens to a NiCD battery if not allowed to fully discharge at
intervals).

Speak to your Print-Technik supplier. He should be able to upgrade it to
a GR1000A which changes the battery to a Lithium type and also upgrades
the firmware.

The Colibri has a Lithium internal battery which 'will
need to be replaced after several years'.
Perhaps it is this battery that is responsible for
your troubles (but failing once a year would seem to
be unlucky).

I would agree. I would expect at least five years and probably up to 10.

It is just possible that a faulty battery has been replaced by another
faulty battery but another possibility is that there is a failed
component on the PCB that is draining the battery.

This should all be fixable.
