First off, I'll order the appropriate butyrate thinner from ATS this
morning, so I'll be following the Ceconite process. Yesterday I found myself out of thinner. Went to the net and got some indications that lacquer thinner would act as a thinner. I have a frame holding some Ceconite that's been shrunk, nitrated and silvered. I diluted some colored Butyrate with lacquer thinner and applied it. Looks beautiful.I'll apply a second coat later today, just for grins. Although I know the correct thing to do, I was sorely tempted to use lacquer thinner. Does anyone know the process of determining if diluting with lacquer thinner is better/worse/no different from following the STC? I've read about the Whittman crash, I believe in A/N hardware; for some reason however, not being able to do what appears to be an equivalent process is very irksome. - Mike |
