Default Military helmet, civilian radios - my solution

I've read here that it's hard to get a blanket
'one size fits all' solution to adapting
military helmets to civilian radios. I
spent about 15 minutes on the phone with
'Flight Suits' (www.flightsuits.com) answering
their questions about what I have and what I
wanted to do with it. A small box of parts arrived
yesterday, and after about 30 minutes with a
screwdriver I have an HGU-33 helmet with a
boom mike that plugs into the oxygen mask
receiver on one side. Checked it out this
morning with a Microair 760 radio and it
works great. They were very pleasant to
deal with, too.

It wasn't cheap, but it was easy, cheaper
than a new helmet, and I get to keep the
liner that's molded to my fat skull. If
anyone's looking for a way to adapt a helmet,
I'd recommend this place.
