I was already a pilot when ultralights and hang gliders were developed, but I'm sure glad I didn't miss them. Lots of designs and low cost used equipment around compared to GA. Just approach it as seriously as you do GA, including the maintenance, and you open the doors to a whole new aspect of flying for very little money by comparison. Especially if you are interested in floats. Just pick a design with full three axis controls, and pick your winds carefully. Their wing loading is especially light, but especially rewarding around sunrise and sunset. |
