Included in a reply to my email to AOPA about the current state of FSS was a
list of FSS direct-dial numbers that are still active. Both AOPA and Lockheed Martin are now advertising these direct dial numbers as a work-around to the long hold times experienced when calling 800-WX-BRIEF. Lockheed Martin lists these direct dial numbers on their home page, he http://www.afss.com/ If you haven't already, consider copying these numbers and pasting them into a Word document that can be carried with you for those times you do need to phone FSS (in the car or in the airplane attempting to close or receive an IFR flight plan). -- Peter |
