Pilots are taught about density altitude in their training, and the
POH documents aircraft performance as well. Competent pilots give consideration to conditions related to their flying all the time. Freezing rain or embedded thunderstorms would certainly raise the discomfort level for this pilot more than would temps 100 degrees F. Oh. I said pilot. Maybe that's the difference.
