It was reported as a "freestyle distance" flight, direct distance is about 490 statute miles, so perhaps a free distance with turn points is the attempt? First, congratulations to Gary for an outstanding flight. As Gary explained in a previous post, this is a free distance flight - no declared goal. Also, the reporter didn't understand that circling was not part of the distance, but insisted on getting some idea of distance flown including the circling, then presented that as the distance flown. At least the rest of the news article is fairly accurate and the graphics are very nice as well. -Tom |
