If it won't fit in the space of the hydraulic cylinder, it could be
mounted just ahead/behind of the ramp mechanism.

No think this is great, just think of all the things possible. We
could have ILEC make a controller. It could be user configurable with
different jack heights as a rigging aid. You could download that
configuration from a PC...

Sigh. I'd like a simple mechanical system. Hydraulic is the right
approach. Just implemented badly.

My newish Komet trailer came with a very elegant manual jack using a
linear actuator setup (two small acme screw jacks connected by a
common crank). Avoids the mechanical advantage issues of a scissors
jack and the reliability/maintenance issues of the hydraulic.

Unfortunately, I let the jack go for a ratcheted scissors jack with a
foot pedal that's never worked right. Sigh.
