HI,
As soaring season in the northern hemisphere slides into our last month or two of decent weather, I was wondering if anyone has taken advantage of the newly approved GPS Position Recorder + Barograph option to submit IGC Badge Claims. We at the SSA in the US are currently backlogged with claims, so I don't have that data at my fingertips in terms of documentation method. Wondering if anyone from other countries would care to comment as well. Not really looking for editorial content on whether or not GPS Position Recorder + Barograph makes sense - really just looking for some annecdotal or hard evidence that folks are taking advantage of this option. FWIW, in calendar year 2009, I believe we had only 1 distance claim submitted using camera and baro. Am wondering if the concept of GPS Position Recorder as replacement for camera has resonated with pilots. Thanks in advance, Erik Mann |
