Default EASA Safety Award for the OGN System

EASA (which is the European FAA) has awarded the OGN system and its author:

One can watch gliders flying all over the world here (and on some more websites):

There are just a handful of receivers (which pick up the FLARM signals) in the US, a little bit more in Canada (mostly Ontario) and hundreds in Europe..

One new receiver will hopefully start working in Minooka, IL, close to the Chicago Glider Club airfield, in the next few days. Curious to see what the range is going to be - anywhere around and above 30 miles will be OK. Next receivers planned to be set up in Plainfield, IL, and Hinckley. If the receivers are placed directly at the airfields, some websites provide 'logbooks' marking launches and landings for the gliders equipped with FLARM or OGN.. The data is also being fed into the https://www.flightradar24.com/ network.
