The somewhat obscure comic strip, "Sherman's Lagoon," had a
fairly creditable PBY in its July 20 cartoon: http://www.slagoon.com/dailies/SL03.07.27.gif. I'm not aware of any PBYs that are used as water bombers (don't think they'd be very good at it...) I believe the beginning of the film "Always" had a PBY taking on water in the same manner. Most of the PBY's used for fire fighting have been reengined with Wright R-2600 hundred engines which is probably what makes them satisfactory for that demanding work. Not sure though how many are still active in that role. John Dupre'
