If you check the Aviastoitel website http://aviastroitel.nm.ru/, the
Russians are listing developing a jet powered sailplane as a future project. Might try Babelfish for translation from Russian to English if needed. For reference, the coventional self-launch Russia AC-5M and the Silent are essentially powered by the same 28 hp, 2-stroke engine. The Russians also have replaced the 28 hp engine with a 80 hp Rotax 912 engine...just to create a new sport plane/motorglider. Video on the Russian website shows the plane really climbing out on takeoff. Also an interesting video of dropping a Russia sailplane from a hot-air ballon, followed by the glider doing a tailslide back near the ballon's basket. A bit crazy...but thats how you need to think when it is time to go get the jet engines. |

I cannot find anything about a jet engine on this site. Where did you find
it? Cheers Detlev http://gliding.hoppenrath.com "John" schrieb im Newsbeitrag om... There is a list of future projects at the bottom of the history page.
Just a one line sentence stating a jet powered sailplane is going to be developed. |

Item No. 2 in the list of future projects is a "motorglider with jet
engines". It means, that this motorglider will have more than 1 jet engine. George "John" wrote in message m... There is a list of future projects at the bottom of the history page. Just a one line sentence stating a jet powered sailplane is going to be developed. |
