Last winter there was a sign up on the highway outside Truckee-Tahoe
airport offering "5280' high sightseeing rides in airplanes with
completely private cabins!"

For some reason that sign didn't make a reappearance this year...

The reason it probably didn't make an appearance again this year is that it
was false and deceptive advertising. Truckee Airport is at 5900' elevation
already, so all they had to do was open the cabin door, put the folks
inside, and shut the door. The airplane never had to leave the ground. You
can achieve the same result at the local notel motel for a hell of a lot
less money.
