For anyone following, I found a cheap avionics place near RDU, as well

Where's the hangar? DB

for what it's worth, i'll be looking at my first oil change on my
'62-172-c soon and my plan is to get my a&p to walk me thru an oil
change and plug cleaning at my hanger with my tools etc. get me set up
to do it right. he knows that i'll lose interest soon as i understand
it and just have him do it. i don't think he'll charge too much extra
for my help.

There's an operator in Alaska who only changes oil at overhaul. He
swears by it and was the subject of some research about 10 years back.
Not sure what the results were but he claimed to be able to reach TBO
much easier on the original oil.
