Quite amazing. snippy We've had (and still have the remains of) numerous V1 launcing sites here in the vicinity. Several were situated in pine forests. The Germans would cut clear a strip of pine forest, then they ran steel cables from the tops of the trees crossing the strip and hang the tops from the cut down trees back in. That way from above it looked like nothing was there but a V1 was spewed out the side of the forest every now and then. There are still sites where the cables are still visible. Bert-Jan, There any pictures that you know of showing this, or are they close enough where you could take some and post them? I knew about some of the sites in France and Belgium, but thought that they had been leveled post-war. Ed |
