for the terminology in which they refer to the award of a medal! Because
they used a term like "rewarded," or "earned," or "won," it *obviously*

Agreed, if she rated the award it really doesn't matter how one words it.

I am willing to bet the "rewarded" in the original cite was either a typo or a
misquote. Perhaps the captain intended to say she was "awarded" the medal. Like
no one else has misused a word?

Geeze, people, get off her case.
