No factory replacenment that I know of, but pretty easy to mod the factory box. Either cut and extend the current tabs or put outside tabs and use a bungie doughnut. |

Larger batteries means a change in weight.
Do not forget to update the W&B. You never know when you will get ramped by some FAA guy who will notice the non-factory issued battery straps. It can be a very slippery slope from there |

Is your weight and balance then invalid when you dump before landing? My official weight and balance data does not include the batteries since they are not required equipment. I consider batteries to be optional/variable as are pilot mass and arm, water ballast mass and arm, drinking water, and trim disks. All these are calculated on page 2 of my W/B spreadsheet and do not appear in the weight and balance data that was submitted for airworthiness inspection and carried in the cockpit. Page 2 of my weight and balance spread sheets allows selection of 1, or 2, or zero batteries. If I change the battery type and mass I would update the protected battery mass data on that sheet, but no FAA inspected data would change. I understand the situation may be different in countries ruled by EASA. Andy |

Regards, Frank (TA) Hey Frank, When I bought my 2bx I modified the battery holder to accommodate the taller batteries. I actually fabbed up a strap just like the factory one -- only taller. Made it out of a few layers of fiberglass and re-assembled the unit just like it had been before. Now the taller batteries slip in easily. Piece of cake. Larry |
