I think there would then have been the danger of a long stalky undercarriage perhaps like the Stirling, with all the attendant problems of collapse that occurred with them. That hump certainly would've impaired the visibility on the Lancaster. Syke |

If that were the case, it would be easier to build the tank over/in the bomb bay. |
