Air Force Family Portrait 1958
"Willem Van der Voort" wrote in message ... Interesting picture Where is the B-58 & F-104 Starfighter, I saw them in the Paris air show in 1958 The B-58 was still in flight test mode in 1958, it wouldn't be operational until 1961. The F-104 became opertional in January1958, but was grounded soon after due to a succession of accidents. The photo may have been taken during that period. Other missing USAF aircraft of 1958: Boeing B-17, served as target drones and drone controllers until1959. Well, the H-19 is smack dab in the center of the picture. The B-66 is to the
left of the F-94C, which is left of the H-19. But, you are right about the rest of them. Ron "Steven P. McNicoll" wrote in message ... "Willem Van der Voort" wrote in message ... Most of the below listed aircraft were already outdated at the time of the
picture. Still used as base ops and special purpose assignments. The first aircraft assigned to the B-58 Test Force was "Hustler's Mother", a C-47. And since in the early days of the Test Force, we had no other aircraft and many hands available, it was very highly polished. It was used by the B-58 Test Force Commander. As far as I know, there were no Wings or Squadrons of most of the aircraft listed below at the time the picture was taken. Paul in Portland OR (Ret. USAF btw) Other missing USAF aircraft of 1958: Boeing B-17, served as target drones and drone controllers until1959. If you look at the very top of the picture you will see 15 T-33s up
there. On Thu, 18 Oct 2007 08:56:02 -0700, "Paul Laughlin" wrote: Most of the below listed aircraft were already outdated at the time of the picture.
