The Administrator wrote a letter to the Senate "promising" not to contract out any ATC functions for the (rest of)the fiscal year. The Senate passed the legislation as written, which was with all references to ATC privatization removed. FAA declared victory, NATCA declared victory, the Republicans declared victory, the Dem's declared victory, and the battle enters a cease-fire until September '04. Meanwhile, union air traffic controllers are emailing each other with plans to each personally send $100 US to the campaign of any man or woman, Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative, who runs against Mr. Mica (R-FL) next election... Those campaign contributions would likely have more effect if they were sent to President baby Bush's brother Jeb (Governor of FL); he seems to be the one capable of determining the outcome of elections in his state. :-) |
