The real fun is flying NOE 10-20 feet off the deck.
Especially flying a curving river below the treetops. You never know what you will find around the next bend! |

[snipped wishing you many more such happy flights] Until now. 10,000 generations before me gazed up at the sky, and wondered what it would be like to soar with eagles. 10,000 generations wondered how it would feel to hover between earth and sky, longing to achieve it -- but fearing it as well. And there I was. All of us, in this season of man, must surely realize how fortunate we are. All of us, in this tiny brotherhood of aviators, must surely be the luckiest people to have ever walked this planet. Jay, This song "May It Be" by Enya is indeed very beautiful. Next time, when you are alone, up there in blue, silent beautiful sky, listen this song. -Jeet. |

Wouldn't you think after nearly ten years, and over 1300 hours aloft (900 as PIC; Uh-oh, you're getting ahead of me... 400 with Mary as PIC), that I would get over this? God help me if I ever do! Any time I want, I can mentally feel the yoke in my hands and the rudder pedals under my feet, and smell that unique airplane smell. When I do this, I get lifted above whatever down-to-earth problems are bugging me. We're lucky men, indeed. -- Dan C172RG at BFM |

Any time I want, I can mentally feel the yoke in my hands and the rudder
pedals under my feet, and smell that unique airplane smell. When I do this, I get lifted above whatever down-to-earth problems are bugging me. We're lucky men, indeed. For sure. Every day, on my way home from the hotel, I drive past a cemetery. In it are thousands of men, women, and an appalling number of children who have gone down the road before me. I look at them every day, and vow to make my life worth *something* -- to do whatever it takes to transcend daily existence and to live life to the fullest extent possible. Fly more. Use what skills we've been blessed with to rise above the troubles of this earth. The clock is wound but once. :-) -- Jay Honeck Iowa City, IA Pathfinder N56993 www.AlexisParkInn.com "Your Aviation Destination" |
