I need to start saving faster, I thought we were going to have to wait until the 'day of the pillow' for increased selection and lower prices on used gliders.

Keep in mind that many tow-pilots are of the same "vintage" as the glider pilots. If there is ever going to be a glut of gliders on the market, there may well be a shortage of tugs too.

True, but I was hoping for that snazzy self-launcher .... ;-)

Let all the teenagers hanging around the club drive the ground launch
vehicle.Â* When the old fogies who drove Ferraris and Aston Martins
croak, their cars could be fitted with tow releases! :-D

Turns out that another unexpected benefit of being a glider pilot is that you're thoroughly prepared for coronavirus. Got the oxygen set, the oximeter, the N95 masks and nitrile gloves from the last time you did fibreglass work ...all set :-)

A typical glider oxygen bottle may not last the many days that recovery will need. But in an emergency, a home oxyacetylene system would probably provide a long-term oxygen supply if hooked up to a MH pulse regulator.

"a home oxyacetylene system"

???????

Uh, I think it would be wiser to keep the acetylene cylinder closed. It really isn't that good for long-term health. Or short term, for that matter.
