Believe it ot not, the Gyrenes got the 1st operational SBD's in late 1940, VMB-2, then VMB-1 in early 1941. The Enterprise received the 1st SBD-2s, (VB-6) at the end of 1942, as well as VB-2 on the Lexington. The Ranger got received SBD-3s (VS-41) in November 1942.
