No, but if past results are any guarantee of future performance, it will be a disaster. Jim Bede has never had a truly successful business venture. All have imploded with dead people, crashed airplanes and builders left with nothing to show. Homebuilders are a gullible bunch. What's the matter, some homebuilder beat the **** out of you in grade school? LOL! ![]() -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

That's why I said "I think". You are the type expert: tell me, total ever flown, total fatalities, total writeoffs nonfatal: DEMONSTRATED safe top speed: DEMONSTRATED range: total kits delivered: total deposits taken: percent of the delta (payments taken, kits not received) refunded. Also can you tell me who all is still alive who flew it and their statements as to its flying qualities? If you feel as though these are unreasonable questions, please explain why. |

I don't know the exact numbers but I know the BD-10 program was a complete debacle. And I'm reasonably sure no one thinks it can go transonic without coming apart, which is the key reason it's been abandoned. If the basic aerodynamics were even in the ballpark, it, or a similar aircraft, would be being actively pursued. I have several friends who are homebuilders. They may not like a few of the things i say but they understand I'm not against homebuilding, but the errant notions being sold to people by hucksters and pegboy airplane magazine writers. I suppose if I came out saying Amway was bogus, you'd say i was against using soap. |

I would almost bet he worships Jim Jones too. Jaun has never been wrong about anything and if you don't believe me, ask him. (At least he will never admit that he has been wrong.) |

Jaun has never been wrong about anything and if you don't believe me, ask him. (At least he will never admit that he has been wrong.) Jim Bede is actually a technically competent engineer, or was at one time. But he is also an incorrigible con man, much like L. Ron Hubbard. If Jim was in a situation where he could only design and build airplanes and not talk to anyone, not sell, not interact with the public, and responsible people did the selling once the aircraft was flight tested and proven to meet all the stated goals, he would actually be able to do something useful to society. However, he refuses to work in such a setting. As it is I look forwward to his obit, not out of personal animosity but because he is only going to result in more people being fleeced and more worthless half-built piles of aluminum littering garages. And only embalming fluid will slake this compulsion. |

John,
Last I heard he was trying to unload it. I have never seen any report that it has ever flown but I haven't been trying to keep up either. I suspect not.
